The health of widows and orphaned children is essential to protecting families and strengthening social stability. Losing a husband or father brings not only grief but also serious economic, psychological and health pressures. Islam urges kindness towards orphans and people in need. Allah says: “Worship Allah … and do good to parents, relatives, orphans and the needy”
[Qur’an 4:36]. Widows often carry responsibility for children’s daily needs and may postpone their own examinations or treatment because of limited resources or family demands. Their care should therefore include medical examinations, treatment of chronic illness, access to medicines, nutritional guidance, and psychological and social support. The Prophet ﷺ also taught: “The one who cares for a widow or a poor person is like one who strives in the cause of Allah”
(reported by Al-Bukhari and Muslim). Caring for a widow’s health is therefore both an act of faith and a noble social responsibility that protects an entire family.
Orphaned children need comprehensive health care that considers their physical, psychological and educational development. Malnutrition, poor eyesight or hearing, dental problems and emotional distress can affect school performance, confidence and future prospects. Care includes regular examinations, vaccinations, treatment, glasses and medical devices, monitoring of chronic conditions, and psychological support after bereavement. Families, schools, the association, doctors and donors need to cooperate to ensure continuity of care while strictly protecting beneficiaries’ privacy and medical information. Kafalat Al Yatim Association in Afourer supports the health of widows and orphaned children by helping with examinations, treatment, medicines and medical supplies, spreading preventive health awareness and accompanying families in need. Every health contribution can prevent serious complications, relieve pain, restore hope to a mother or give a child a better opportunity to learn, grow and build a safe and dignified future.
